BENTON – Work continues today on the broken water main at the Rend Lake Water Treatment Facility in Benton.
Just before 6 Wednesday night, officials found a crack in a 36-inch main water line at the facility. They have been working ever since trying to get the line fixed. This led officials to call for cities and counties that get their water from Rend Lake to conserve water until further notice. It’s not known as this time what cause the crack to happen in the water main.
You should only use water for essential purposes. Some burn bans are also in place around the Rend Lake service area until further notice.
Officials say they will notify the public once the water main is fixed.
