Mt. Vernon Man in Custody after Driving Vehicle into Veteran’s Park Lake Saturday

MT. VERNON – A Mt. Vernon man is in custody after he drove his car through the tennis courts at Veteran’s Park and into the lake at the park Saturday night.

According to Mt. Vernon Police, they received the call just before 10 about the vehicle in the lake. When police arrived on scene, they found the driver still inside the vehicle, which was submerged in waist-deep water.

The driver, 41-year-old Terence Bryant of Mt. Vernon, refused medical treatment on scene and was taken into custody for DUI-alcohol.

The Mt. Vernon Parks & Recreation Department also reported damage to two tennis court fences because of the accident.
