Overstreet to Seek Retiring Karmeier’s Seat on Illinois Supreme Court in 2020

MT. VERNON – A Fifth District Appellate Court Justice has announced that he will seek election to the Illinois Supreme Court.

Mt. Vernon native David Overstreet has announced his intention to seek election to the state’s highest court in 2020. He will be seeking the seat that Lloyd Karmeier will be vacating. Karmeier recently announced he will retire on Dec. 6, 2020.

Overstreet says his variety and quantity of law experience makes him the right choice for the Illinois Supreme Court.

Overstreet was elected to the Circuit Court in 2008 and was retained in 2014. He was assigned to the Appellate Court in 2017 and won election to the seat in 2018.
