CENTRALIA – Centralia Police are reportedly investigating a body found late Monday morning in the 600 block of Johnson Street on the west side of Centralia.
Centralia Police Chief Greg Dodson confirms the body is 39-year-old Lucas LeMay of Mt. Vernon, who had been missing from the Centralia area since April 21. LeMay’s family reported him missing April 28 to the Mt. Vernon Police Department and organized a ground search for him Monday in Centralia.
Volunteers were asked to meet at 10 a.m. Monday at the Fairview Plaza parking lot in Centralia to assist in the search. Police were contacted around 11 a.m. about the discovery and they set up a perimeter around the area where the body was found. Command vehicles were sent to the area to aid in the investigation during impending storms.
The Missing Persons Awareness Network has confirmed that LeMay has been found dead in the same area of Centralia where he had last been seen in April.
The remains found Monday were located in a wooded area near Johnson and North James on Centralia’s west side.
Dodson says the initial investigation did not indicate any obvious signs foul play, but the remains have been taken into the custody of the Clinton County Coroner. A forensic autopsy is being scheduled in order to determine cause and manner of death.
