CARBONDALE – A Carbondale man has been arrested and charged with First Degree Murder in a weekend shooting that killed another man from Carbondale.

According to Jackson County State’s Attorney Joseph A. Cervantez Monday, 19-year-old Keon L. Foulks has been charged for the murder of 26-year-old Robert L. Delmore Jr. Saturday. If convicted, Foulks faces 45 years to natural life in the Illinois Department of Corrections.     

Foulks is currently in custody at the Jackson County Jail with bond set at $2 million. He is scheduled to appear in court for preliminary hearing on Feb. 7, 2023.

Carbondale Police responded to the 800 block of East Grand Avenue in reference to a death investigation around 1:30 Saturday morning.

Officers found Delmore Jr. with a gunshot wound inside an apartment.

The investigation is being pursued by the Carbondale Police Department and the Illinois State Police. State’s Attorney Joseph Cervantez is handling the prosecution.
