Barry Wright has been the news director for WMCL, WQRL and WISH since 2014. Barry started Classic Country AM in 2019 in hopes of bring more local flavor and more information to the legendary WMCL. He brings with him years of radio experience including time in Tennessee, Kentucky and Indiana. Barry brings to Classic Country AM a wealth of local knowledge and up to the minute updates about traffic, news, weather, and of course, some of the best country music ever made!

We asked Barry, “What are some things people may not know about you?”

-I’m originally from Martin, TN. I got into radio in 1993 while in college, graduated and pursued other interests and then got back into radio in 1998 and have been with it ever since.

-I’ve been nominated and won AP Radio Awards in Kentucky, nominated for radio awards in Indiana and Illinois.

-I’m married with two kids and have a dog.  

-I’m the television director (one of a few we have) for the weekly television broadcasts of the First Baptist Church of Marion that airs on KFVS-TV’s CW station in Cape.

-I’m a sports fan of Kentucky football and basketball and Tennessee Titans football
